2. Access data / server log files
When you visit the site, general information is recorded automatically (truncated IP address, browser type, operating system, referrer URL, time of access). This data does not allow any direct conclusions about your identity. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
3. Cookies
Our website uses technically necessary cookies and optional cookies (analytics/marketing – only with your consent). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
4. Orders & contract processing
Personal data (name, address, email) is processed to fulfil the contract and passed on to necessary service providers (payment and shipping providers). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
5. Email marketing to existing customers
If you have placed an order with us, we use your email address to occasionally inform you about our own similar products. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in direct marketing (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR in conjunction with Section 7(3) UWG, the German Act Against Unfair Competition). These emails are sent from our own server; your address is not passed on to third parties for this purpose.
You may object to this use at any time (Art. 21(2) GDPR), at no cost beyond the basic transmission rates. The easiest way is the unsubscribe link at the end of every such email, or an informal message to muck@balance-alligator.de. Once you object, your address is blocked for advertising and will no longer be contacted.
6. Payment service providers

7. Hosting
The website is operated on our own server (Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany). Processing takes place on the basis of a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
8. Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) & Conversions API
With your consent, we use the "Meta Pixel" and the "Conversions API" of Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. (4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin, Ireland). We use them to measure the performance of our ads (e.g. page views, add-to-cart, purchases incl. order value) and, where applicable, to serve advertising (retargeting). The data transmitted includes visited pages/events as well as pseudonymised identifiers hashed with SHA-256 (e.g. email address), in some cases linked to your Facebook/Instagram account.
Data may be transferred to Meta Platforms, Inc. in the USA (Meta is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; access by public authorities cannot be fully ruled out). The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25 Abs. 1 TTDSG), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future via the cookie settings. More in Meta's privacy policy.
9. Google Analytics 4
With your consent, we use "Google Analytics 4" from Google Ireland Ltd. (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) to statistically evaluate the use of our website (e.g. visited pages, time on site, traffic sources, purchases incl. order value). Google Analytics uses cookies and processes, among other things, truncated IP addresses and pseudonymous usage identifiers.
Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA (Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; access by public authorities cannot be fully ruled out). The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25 Abs. 1 TTDSG), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future via the cookie settings.
